Michael Baxter is an economics writer and entrepreneur, with a particular interest in technology and how technology is changing the world. As a writer, his style is quirky, often funny, but also thought provoking.

In 1984, two years after graduating with a degree in economics, he launched his first business, a PR agency, specialising in computer games, called Solution PR. He ran this business for seven years, before becoming a founder shareholder in a technology company which was floated on the NASDAQ. Upon selling his shares in this company, he became a full time private investor in both quoted and unquoted businesses as a business angel. In the late 1990s, he founded InFinNet, a publishing business targeted at private investors and which combined a web site with an innovation approach for publishing video based interviews.

In 2003, he launched Investment and Business News, a daily email newsletter. At this point, Michael Baxter developed his skills as a writer, and built upon his knowledge of business and investment combined with his academic background in economics.

In 2006 he sold this company to financial research firm Defaqto, for whom he then worked for three years. In press releases he was described as the company’s chief economist.

Since 2010, he has written around two thousand articles at share.com/blog, and three books.
